The Week Ahead

Hello Huskies.

I hope you are all having a great weekend. We are now settling in to the school year and I love the positive energy I am seeing on campus. Let's keep the momentum going this week as we prepare for our first home tackle football game this Friday!

Here is a look at The Week Ahead:

* Schedule for this week is as follows:

Monday - Late Start Bell Schedule
Tuesday - Regular Bell Schedule
Wednesday - Regular Bell Schedule
Thursday - Regular Bell Schedule
Friday - Regular Bell Schedule

* Senior Parent Counseling Night will take place on Tuesday, September 1st, from 6:00-7:00pm in the CHHS Theater. Counselors will go over information that will help you navigate through your last year of high school (grad requirements, college apps/financial aid, post-HS plans, etc.). See the attached flyer for other grade-level counseling nights.

* PSAT for Juniors: Starting Tuesday up until the end of September, juniors can purchase the PSAT/NMSQT online through Student Store. The test will be on Wednesday, October 14. *Note: The PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is an optional test used to qualify for national scholarships and recognition. The SAT is no longer required for admission to UC/CSU schools (check for other universities).

* Huskies this week is Club Rush! Come out at lunch to the Large Gym (Monday - Thursday) and see all of our amazing clubs so you can get involved!

* This Friday is our first home football game! Come out and support Husky tackle football. Game starts at 7pm in Husky Stadium. We have decided on the theme of USA for our first home game this season. Come to the stadium wearing gear to show off your pride for our country. As an additional element for this game we will be honoring all former/current military and first responders before the game. If you bring identification to show that you are/were in the military and/or a first responder we will be allowing you into the game for free this week as well! It is going to be a great night that we look forward to celebrating with you all. See you at the stadium!

* Please remember to follow our school wide behavior expectations to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. On this note I would like to provide some feedback to the community that there are some students on campus that are continuing to leave trash on their tables or in their areas when they get up and walk away. I have made announcements about this over the intercom and have also had myself and my staff go around during lunch and remind students to throw away their trash but we still don't have everyone doing their part. My hope is that we can get the support from the parents at home in talking with their kids about making sure they do their part. If this doesn't get better I am going to remove all of the lunch tables and places for students to sit during lunch and only leave trash cans out. Then once they learn how to throw things in the trash cans we can re-introduce them to lunch tables and benches. I don't want to have to do that but it is not our responsibility to clean up after them. To be honest, they should have more pride in their campus and not want it to look so trashy after lunch. Thank you all for your support with this. I appreciate you all.

* This Wednesday during lunch is our first Pride Point redemption opportunity which will be held in Center Ice. Bring all of the Pride Points you have earned and exchange them for a variety of fun things! You can always bank them and wait for the next opportunity and get something even better next time as well. Either way, its a good time to come check out all the fun stuff you can get by just following the school wide behavior expectations I mention every week in my messages.
