The Week Ahead

Hello Huskies.

We had a very successful week 1 of school and are looking forward to week 2. With that said, here is a look at The Week Ahead:

* Schedule for this week is as follows:

Monday - Late Start Bell Schedule
Tuesday - Regular Bell Schedule
Wednesday - Regular Bell Schedule
Thursday - Regular Bell Schedule
Friday - Regular Bell Schedule

*** The campus opens for students at 8am all days of the week. We will not allow students on
campus before 8am as we don't have appropriate staffing in place for student supervision until
that time.

* As many of us have been anticipating a new cell phone policy regarding use at the high school level has been in the works for some time now. As this year begins please familiarize yourself with CHHS cell phone policy. I have attached a few documents to this message for your reference/information. In addition students will have this policy reviewed with them mutliple times during the first week of school; this message, ASB student welcome video shown in class, classroom teacher presentations, and beginning of the year behavior expectation assemblies. This policy is non-negotiable and will be strictly enforced.

* Please check your Aeries daily for your most up-to-date schedule. Please be aware there may still be adjustments made to your schedule as we balance classes.

* Counselors will not be meeting with students during this second week to change schedules based on teacher requests or trying to pair friend groups up in the same class. The only reasons that counselors will be making teacher changes is due to wrong placement level, empty period where there should be a class, or being enrolled in the wrong class. If you believe you have a valid reason to see your counselor please do NOT go to the counseling office and ask to see them as you wont be allowed to. You should scan the QR codes posted around campus and in classrooms and submit a request for an appointment. We have the first 10 days of school to make schedule changes so be patient and allow the counselors to work through the messages they recieve in the order they receive them and they will respond to your concerns.

* Are you interested in starting a club? Or did you have a club last year and need to renew? All clubs must submit a new club application in order to start meeting and to join club rush. Please see the attached packet for more information on how to complete this process. Clubs that want to participate in club rush must submit their completed packets by August 25th for approval. Club rush is August 31st- September 4th.

* This Friday is underclassmen picture day, get ready to smile big! All underclassmen will go to the small gym during their English classes. Information will be sent out from School Portraits on how to order. Please remember that even if you dont want to buy pictures the picture taken on this day will be your yearbook picture. With that said, please make sure to dress appropriately and do not wear any items or make up that hides and/or modifies your identity.

* Save the date for Chino Hills Back To School Night- Wednesday August 26th! more information to come!

* Parking Permit applications are being sold starting this Tuesday in the Student Store. Students can pick up parking permit applications at the student store. If you purchased an ASB card you will be allowed to purchase your parking permit at a discounted rate but non ASB card holders will pay $20 for the permit. All payments must be made in cash as we cannot accept other forms of payment for the parking permits.

* Our school wide behavior expectations focus around three main foundational elements; Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. You will see these in every week's message. If there are specific behaviors we are seeing on campus that don't align with these expectations I will mention them in my weekly messages as well so that you can speak with your children about ensuring they are following the established expectations and avoiding any possible consequences for not doing so. I love the students on my campus and I want them to be here but I will not sacrifice other student's ability to enjoy a safe and caring learning environment for students that are not willing to respect and follow the rules we have in place. I have no issue with applying swift and stern consequences when necessary. I share this with you all now so that you are not surprised if there comes a time where we need to meet in regards to a disciplinary incident and consequences are applied.

* Every student on campus attended an assembly during the fist week of school where we reviewed behavior expectations, school and district policies, rewards, consequences, etc. Parents, please make sure you ask your children about this and ensure they understood everything we covered. If they express to you that they didnt understand something and/or have questions please have them come see any administrator on campus so we can clear things up for them.
